Pepin Sailing School and Charters
Come Sail With Us.....!
Pepin Sailing specializes in sailing instruction and safe, affordable tours on beautiful Lake Pepin from May through October.
We also provide a pathway that can take you to a warm weather sailing vacation with us as early as next Winter!!
After last year's tragic loss of David Sheridan, a great friend and the long-time owner of Sail Pepin, several of us who had sailed as Captains for David, decided to continue the tradition of friendly, yet professional sailing tours and instruction that he had pioneered and championed for so many years.
The result of our efforts is Pepin Sailing School and Charters.
In addition to the friendliness and professionalism we have worked hard to preserve, we have also added a new dimension to the sail training element by affiliating Pepin Sailing with NauticEd, a relatively new, international sail training organization that is the first to gain U.S. Coast Guard approval for their student certification system. In true 21st Century fashion, NauticEd has accomplished this by has introducing breakthrough online training, testing and electronic documentation processes that result in new levels of accountability to training providers.

Qualified Crew Member
We have designed this course specifically for those who want to be competent sailors, but are not really interested in being the skipper just yet. We make use of the superb NauticEd training program to provide the online theoretical preparation for the course, and we provide 16 hours of practical training from the Pepin Marina with our 32' Catalina sloop, Wind Song. The on-the-water training is taught in four hour sessions and requires a minimum o two persons per class.
The cost is $650 per person, which includes all training materials and an electronic logbook. Discounts are available for groups and graduates of the Introduction to Sailing program
This course is essentially the Qualified Crew Program, with more NauticEd, online study and test requirements, and the practical skill assessment set to a higher standard. Successful graduates will qualify to Skipper a 32' sailboat in local waters and they will be certificated when they have acquired an additional 10 days of sailing (or only 4 if they sail with an Instructor) .
The course costs $650 per person with discounts for groups and graduates of the Introduction to Sailing course.
Bareboat Charter Master
When you complete this course, you will be qualified to charter a sailboat of up to 45'. The qualification requires a Qualified Skipper Certification, (or ASA- equivalent), 50 days of logged sailing experience, and the NauticEd bundle of Bareboat courses.
The Bareboat Charter Master class is 16 hours on-the-water and includes an over-night anchorage on Lake Pepin, unless the course is part of a Charter Cruise option.
Cost of the course on Lake Pepin is $680 each, or $1,200 for two.
These trips can accommodate from 2-6 persons, and are open to all on a first come, first served basis. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Reservations are suggested.
